Waste Electronic
Equipment Regulations (WEEE) 2007
|
Pre-treated disposal of Waste Electrical Equipment.
New Regulations governing the disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment came into force on 2nd January, but
people either know nothing about these new regulations, or are confused as
to just who has to do what.
Whilst the Regulations will ultimately affect many thousands of companies,
electrical equipment does not have to be
disposed of under the requirements of the Regulations until 1st July 2007.
Retailers, regardless
of size, who sell electrical equipment are required to
either register with the Distributor Take-back Scheme by the end of March
2007 or be prepared to offer in-store take back of similar equipment to what
they sell from 1 July 2007.
It is anticipated that
the existing Civic Amenity sites (your local household waste disposal sites)
will form the backbone of the expected collection network
for household WEEE and Local Authorities are now trying to resolve the
issues that surround permitting, funding and site approval.
These
new regulations affect producers and retailers primarily, but from July 1st
2007, everyone will have to dispose of
waste electrical equipment
in compliance with these new regulations - and that includes your business.
Computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, faxes, TV’s, redundant
electrical tools etc will have to be disposed of through approved
and authorised pre-treatment facilities prior
to recycling. Is your business ready? Full Circle can help ensure you fully
comply with this new legislation.
For
more information on how this could affect your company

any equipment purchased prior to July 1st 2007), contact Full Circle now on
